Elton John's Cigarette Girl up for auction at Bonham's on the 16th June

21st May 2010

A stunning Bruno Zach figure of a lady holding a cigarette dressed in leather jacket and very bold trousers is going to auction at Bonham's and is expected to achieve a price circa £40,000.

Zach specialised in portrayals of women in flirtatious poses and his work has steadily increased in value in recent years. In 2009, Bonhams sold 'The Riding Crop' for the world record price of £60,000.

During the 1970s, Elton John amassed a high quality Art Deco collection, sparking a fashion among the rich and famous for work of this period. Barbra Streisand was another Art Deco fan and equally had a huge collection and specialised in Clarice Cliff.

Much of Elton's Art Deco collection was dispersed at auction in 1988. A set of auction catalogs was produced displaying this huge collection and can be seen online in several dealers shops.
